GPRLS - All Areas of Learning

GPRLS all areas of learning is a new route to recognition that enables teachers, tutors and trainers in the FE/learning and skills sector, in any curriculum area, to apply for generic recognition in either the full or associate teaching role.
Those who are successful in achieving recognition through Lifelong Learning UK on behalf of the Department for Innovation, Universities and Skills (DIUS), are then able to commence the process of professional formation and subsequently go on to apply for the status of Qualified Teacher Learning and Skills (QTLS) or Associate Teacher Learning and Skills (ATLS) depending on their role.
Further benefits of gaining GPRLS
As well as being eligible to apply for licensed status, additional benefits have been cited by successful applicants which have included using the process as an opportunity to reflect on their own experience and develop a clear picture of competence; giving confidence and reassurance; IfL membership category increased to "Member" for those in the full teacher role, and to "Associate" for those in the associate teacher role.
Who can apply?
The scheme is open to:
. existing members of the workforce as a means of gaining professional standing
. experienced teachers who are new entrants to the learning and skills sector as one route to gaining licensed status
. those part-qualified for their role when the 2007 regulations were implemented
