Q: What do I do if there is no Tariff for my qualification?
A: If you are seeking exemption for entry to a CTLLS or DTLLS programme, your course provider may be prepared to accredit your prior experience or learning (APEL). Alternatively, contact LLUK Information and Advice Service.
Q:There is only a Part Tariff for my qualification. What should I do?
A: The Tariff of Qualifications (ITT) database contains details of what you need to do in order to move to a Full Tariff for your qualification.
If you are working towards professional standing you should contact the Institute for Learning to ascertain if you have sufficient qualifications to gain the necessary level of membership for your teaching role i.e. associate or full.
Q:What is the difference between endorsed and approved qualifications and non endorsed and approved qualifications?
A: An endorsed qualification is one that has been endorsed by Standards Verification UK in relation to the 2007 professional standards, and prior to this the FENTO standards and ensures qualifications meet the 2001 or 2007 regulations for teaching and training in the further education/learning and skills sector.
In the past, an “approved” qualification was one approved in relation to the FENTO subject specifications for teachers of literacy, numeracy and ESOL. Since September 2007 the distinction between “endorsed” and “approved” has been removed as both generic ITT and subject specific qualifications for teachers of Literacy, Numeracy and ESOL are covered by the same regulations. All these qualifications are now subject to endorsement by SVUK.
Q:How do I know if my qualification was an endorsed or approved qualification?
A: Check the status of your qualification by browsing the tables of endorsed and approved qualifications on the Endorsement section of the SVUK site.
