English for Speakers of Other Language (ESOL) Level 2 (Skills for Life)
When were they available?
The Skills for Life level 2 ESOL qualification has been available since 2004 and is usually taken by adults after following an ESOL programme of study. It may also be achieved as an additional qualification whilst studying a vocational programme such as an NVQ; e2e; modern apprenticeships etc.
Where would I have studied?
Skills for Life ESOL qualifications may be taken at an accredited further education (FE) college; adult and community learning (ACL) centres; learndirect centre; work-based learning organisation; private training provider or voluntary organisation.
How would I have been assessed?
Assessment is usually by external examination although some awarding bodies offer assessment by portfolio.
What result would I have achieved?
The qualification is divided into 3 units; reading, writing and speaking & listening.
For evidencing personal English language skills all three units must be achieved i.e. the full qualification at level 2.
Many awarding bodies offer Skills for Life ESOL including; OCNW, Cambridge ESOL, EDEXCEL, TCL, City & Guilds and EDI.
