Frequently Asked Questions

You can evidence your personal literacy and numeracy skills by:

a) holding a qualification listed on the approved qualifications lists shown on this site: http://www.svuk.eu/evidencing-personal-skills-in-literacy-and-numeracy.htm .  If you cannot find your certificate, please contact your provider or awarding body for a copy.  Ofqual provides some help on getting copies of exam certificates: http://www.ofqual.gov.uk/help-and-support/94-articles/264-getting-copies-of-exam-certificates (opens in new window).

b) If you do not hold any maths or English qualification, you can evidence your skills by:

  1. gaining one of the qualifications on the lists.  The national tests in adult literacy and numeracy are readily available from national test centres. Find your nearest test centre on the Move On site: http://www.move-on.org.uk/findatestcentre.asp (opens in new window) or contact the learndirect advice line: 0800 101 901.
  2. demonstrating your skills by providing other evidence that maps to the national standards for adult literacy and numeracy. Download the National standards for adult literacy, numeracy and ICT from the Institute for Learning website (pdf – opens in new window). c) If you hold a maths or English qualification not on the approved lists, you can evidence your personal literacy and numeracy skills by mapping your qualification to the national standards for adult literacy and numeracy – see above for link to the standards.  Meanwhile, we are collating non-listed qualifications for periodic review by the Project Group and possible addition to the approved lists – please send details to: advice@lluk.org
