Level 3 Adult Literacy, Numeracy and ESOL subject support

When were they available?

Level 3 Adult Literacy, Numeracy and ESOL subject support qualifications have been available since September 2002. Standards are currently being revised by Lifelong Learning UK (LLUK).

Where would I have studied?

The qualifications are mainly available in further education (FE) colleges for learning support staff acting as tutors or teaching assistants in the classroom under the supervision of subject specialist teacher.

How would I have been assessed?

Offered as 90 hour courses, generally taken part time plus 15 hours teaching practice and assessed through assignments and portfolio.

What result would I have achieved?

Qualifications gained at level 3 in literacy, numeracy or ESOL subject support from various awarding bodies including; OCR, OCNW and City & Guilds.

These qualifications include development of literacy and/or numeracy within the programme of study and can be used as evidence of personal skills.
