| It is an application process for experienced teachers, tutors and trainers in the learning and skills sector who do not hold a recognised teaching qualification at an accepted level but who wish to be recognised as having professional standing according to the requirements established by the FE Teachers' Qualifications (England) Regulations 2007. |
| What does the application process involve? |
| You will need to complete written tasks drawing on pedagogic and specialist subject skills, knowledge, and experience. You will also need two detailed references to support your application. |

| How quickly will I get my results? |
| You will receive notification of your outcome within 12 weeks of SVUK receiving your completed application. |
| How long does it take to complete an application? |
| Completion time depends on the individual. You will need to give your application careful consideration, ensuring you provide information that enables the adjudicator(s) to form positive judgements about your ability to meet the professional standards. Don't forget to build in time for your referees to support. |
| Is there a deadline for submitting an application? |
| At present there are no deadlines to the Skills for Life and All Areas of Learning routes to GPRLS. |
| How do I convert 'Recognition' into gaining QTLS/ATLS? (Qualified/Associate Teacher Learning and Skills) |
| QTLS/ATLS is conferred by the Institute for Learning (IfL) following the successful completion of a period of professional formation and any other requirements of IfL. |
| What happens if my GPRLS application is unsuccessful? |
| If unsuccessful, you will receive a written statement identifying the criteria that have not been met and/or the activity that has not been successfully completed. An application can be re-submitted once. There is also an appeals process that you can use in the case of definitive refusal. |
