Who is the Tariff for?
The Tariff of Initial Teacher Training Qualifications, managed by Standards Verification UK (SVUK), has been designed for intending, new or existing members of the initial teacher training (ITT) workforce who are working in:
- those areas covered by the Further Education Teachers' Qualifications (England) Regulations (2007) i.e. further education colleges, sixth form colleges and independent specialist colleges
- community learning and development, work based learning providers and other providers delivering Learning and Skills Council contracts
and who wish to
- work towards Associate or Qualified Teacher Learning and Skills status or
- gain General Professional Recognition.
To check out the value of your qualification, please see what qualifications are on the Tariff.
Information for awarding institutions
The Tariff and the top-up and CPD specifications can be used to ensure that:
- students/learners start their journey at the appropriate stage of CTLLS and DTLLS
- gaps in their coverage of the units and the currency of their qualifications can be addressed through top-up modules, additional activity or APLA.
Information for HR and staff development departments in employing organisations
The Tariff can be used to identify:
- the value and appropriateness of legacy qualifications that employees hold for their teaching/training role:
- teachers at the beginning of their teaching career should gain PTLLS
- teachers in the Associate Teacher Role should gain CTLLS
- teachers in the Full Teacher role should gain DTLLS.
- areas which could be addressed through CPD to cover elements, which have been introduced over time and have not been covered in the legacy qualification, e.g. introduction of the minimum core, emphasis on subject specialism and personalised learning.
