Endorsed Qualifications in England
Standards Verification UK (SVUK) has now granted interim endorsement to over 360 new initial teacher training (ITT) qualifications. These cover a range of qualifications including Preparing to Teach in the Lifelong Learning Sector Awards, Certificate in Teaching in the Lifelong Learning Sector, Subject Specialist Diploma and Additional Diploma (continuing professional development) qualifications and are available in all regions in England.
These qualifications are based on a unit and credit based system, which is itself based on the new overarching professional standards for teachers, tutors and trainers in the lifelong learning sector and include an initial Award, as well as a Certificate qualification for teachers in associate teaching roles and a range of Diploma qualifications for teachers in full teaching roles. These new qualifications replace those endorsed or approved under the 2001 regulations.
All awarding institutions and their delivery centres are subject to ongoing endorsement monitoring processes. These include demonstration of appropriate resources, staff qualifications and skills, and rigorous quality assurance mechanisms.
