Derek Fraser

Derek Fraser is Chair of the Standards Verification UK (SVUK) Board, the membership of which reflects the diversity of Lifelong Learning UK (LLUK)'s areas of work.

Professor Derek Fraser is Emeritus Professor of History at the University of  Teesside, where he served as Vice-Chancellor and Chief Executive from 1992 to 2003.  He was for the whole of its life the Chairman of the Independent Football Commission (2002-2008) and was appointed the Independent Football Ombudsman in  August 2008.

He was a director of BTEC and Edexcel and on the boards of Tees Valley TEC, ONE North East (North East Regional Development Agency) and NACETT (National Advisory Council for Education and Training Targets). Derek has also chaired Cleveland Compact, University Vocational Awards Council and the DfES National Steering Group on Graduate Apprenticeship and has written several books based upon his historical research.
